Firelogistics Supplies
Collar Tanks and Trailers

15/1/07

Probably one of the single largest orders of fire fighting collar tanks (a.k.a.  Bouy Walls, Flexitanks) and corresponding equipment ever purchased in Australia has been ordered from Firelogistics - the fire equipment division of RAPP Australia.

Southern Australia has been in the grip of a major drought for many years and the availability of water to the fire agencies where they need it for suppression activities has been an increasing problem.

"Our collar tanks provide fire agencies with a totally portable tank that can be positioned and filled where it will provide the best logistical advantage". National sales manager Mark Bainbridge said.

Three sizes were delivered in the sets, 22000, 12000 and 7500 litres.

Managing Director Roger Buckle said "it was also a huge task to get the materials required rounded up, we bought every metre of fabric we could and even then we had to air freight huge quantities in from Europe."
"This summers unusually extra hot weather also caused us considerable difficulties as we found the welding machines would over heat and break down, despite the fact that they were less than 2 years old"  "To combat this and to get the products delivered as quickly as possible, if we knew it was going to be a hot day,  we started the welding at 4.30am and stopped during the peak of the day, and then resumed latter in the evening if the temperatures dropped sufficiently".  "Our staff performed miracles as they felt they were doing their bit for the fire fights that were happening around the state at the time."   "Just like the second world war propaganda character Rosie The Riveter  (who was pictured building fighter aircraft), our team headed the call too,  so industry could do its bit in the fire fight".
