Born from Tragedy
Committed to Risk Reduction and Readiness
On 2 December 1998, five firefighters were trapped and killed undertaking parallel attack on the Linton fire near Geelong Victoria. All were volunteer members of the Geelong West CFA Brigade. The Lara Brigade were in close proximity, and of course the victims were well known.
Being a Lara based company, the tragedy of the Linton Fire was key to RAPP Australia adding fire material and prevention products to their range, culminating in an agreement in December 2005 to exclusively distribute the Wiltronics Fine Fuel Moisture Meter worldwide.
The same event also prompted the development of the firelogistics Fire Weather Kit. Since that time the Weather Kit has been subject to continuous improvement.
The Windmate 300 is world’s best-practice at this time and carries with it the added advantages of greater accuracy and reliability along with no need for recalibration, important in this time of extended accountability. This also gives it the lowest whole-of-life cost.
RAPP Australia, maintaining its mission, has also developed other products which remain the most appropriate for Services personnel both professional and volunteer, to assist them to complete their tasks successfully and ensure they return safely.
